Getting Married on Ibiza

Getting married on Ibiza – What a fantastic plan! Whether you envision a romantic, intimate setting or something grand and luxurious, anything is possible when you marry on Ibiza. Do you dream of a wedding ceremony on Ibiza with views of a beautiful bay, by the pool of a magnificent villa, or at one of the island’s stunning wedding venues?

We have been coming to Ibiza for years and know all the beautiful and special spots to capture the most amazing images of you together. Over the years, we have also built an extensive network of reliable, high-quality vendors. This includes catering, floral design, DJs, and makeup artists—or perhaps you would prefer to delegate the entire organization to a wedding planner?

We would be happy to help you connect with the right professionals.

Naturally, you can rely on us for photography and film. We work abroad very frequently and are accustomed to traveling for wedding photography. Since 2017, we have visited Ibiza many times, averaging about five trips per year for weddings or Beyond Wedding Shoots. As a result, we are very familiar with the island and know exactly how to capture the images showcased in our Portfolio.

    Organizing a Wedding on Ibiza

Marrying on Ibiza requires a fair amount of additional organization compared to a wedding in the Netherlands. How will your guests travel to the island? What is the best time for them to travel? How will they reach the hotel, the wedding venue, and the party location, and where will they stay? These things may seem simple, but because you are often inviting 40 people or more, they are crucial factors to consider.

A common itinerary involves guests arriving on the island on the first day (which can be any day of the week). They are often taken by transfer shuttles to the hotel or villa, where they can freshen up after their flight. Guests are typically expected from around 5:00 PM for a relaxed drink and some light bites, such as tapas, pizza, or a BBQ. If you are marrying on Ibiza, be sure to let your guests know in advance that you intend to end this evening early; 11:00 PM is a common choice, allowing you to be in bed by midnight even with a slight overrun. Do not make it too late, as your wedding day is the following day and you will want to be fit—for the photos and film as well! ;-)

Getting Married on Ibiza: Take Your Time

Taking it easy on your wedding day is wonderful. Start with a refreshing dip in the pool and a relaxed breakfast with friends and family. After breakfast, you can begin dressing and preparing for a magnificent wedding day. This often doesn’t start until around 2:00 PM. You will likely see each other for the first time around 4:00 PM at the start of the ceremony. The ceremony is usually followed by a champagne toast that transitions into an extended cocktail hour. The music might shift from lounge to something more danceable—dancing in the afternoon sun!

Starting dinner around 8:00 PM is very standard when marrying on Ibiza. Because evenings abroad are often long and warm, you can enjoy a comfortable, leisurely dinner, often lasting until 11:00 PM or midnight. Afterward, the DJ starts the party, which, depending on the location, can continue until the early morning. Alternatively, you could head to Ibiza’s major clubs with the whole group for a truly wild wedding party! Keep in mind that you will need to change your outfit for this; wedding attire is often refused entry, and it is much more comfortable to dance without a large wedding gown.

    Wait, is something missing…?
When will we take our couple portraits?

This can, of course, happen at any time on your wedding day, though we often schedule it before the ceremony. When marrying on Ibiza, there is a chance it will be too hot, and the bright sun may cause you to squint. For the most beautiful results, it is wise to plan the shoot before 11:00 AM or after 3:00 PM. We can also head out early in the morning when the sun is not yet as intense; this produces the most stunning sunrise photos you have ever seen.

We can also schedule the photo shoot after the ceremony, but there is a high probability you would rather be with your friends and family during the cocktail hour. We often perform the shoot the day after your wedding or the day after that. First, enjoy a day of relaxation (perhaps recovering from a hangover?), and then get back into your makeup and wedding attire. This gives us all the time we need to visit the most beautiful locations and create the most incredible images you have ever seen. We also have plenty of time for the sunset and can travel to the best spots at our leisure. Everything is discussed in consultation—do you have any special requests? We would love to hear them.

If you want to go all-in, we can also plan an additional underwater shoot. During this session, we take photos around and even in the sea. You could be floating on the surface or even five meters deep. This is, of course, conducted under the guidance of professional divers. I am a diver myself, as is my second shooter, so you will have four experienced divers around you. Using our years of experience in this field, we have established a safety protocol, making it a very relaxed and enjoyable activity! It is truly a wonderful experience that results in spectacular imagery.

Additional tip: If you are marrying in the months of June, July, August, or September, it is wise not to schedule the wedding ceremony too early. About 3 to 5 hours before sunset is ideal due to lighting conditions and temperature. If you marry at 2:00 PM, you will see everyone melting in the sun behind their sunglasses. Men, in particular, who often wear suits (whether with shorts or not), will find it much hotter than women in dresses.
